With the opening of Snow Mountain(Xueshan) Tunnel, Yilan is now an hour drive away from Taipei City. Ever since my last spontaneous visit to the "Peanut Sesame Noodles/Clam Soup"(麻醬麵蛤蠣湯 eatery in Toucheng, Yilan) after spotting the queue outside, I'd been craving for the noodles/soup.
My eating buddies and I decided to stop by the eatery in spite of an all-seafood lunch at touristy Nanfangao Fishing Port. It was risky as we carried no room in our stomachs for any more food in the afternoon. But the "Peanut Sesame Noodles/Clam Soup" is a must-eat.
I was warned that I shouldn't start my blog with such an entry as there was no decor at all. I think this one is way too classic to miss.
The menu is simple yet elegant in its own way. The must-order items are peanut sesame noodles and clam soup. If you are familiar with Chinese noodles, peanut sesame noodles are pretty much the non-spicy version of Szechuan Dan Dan noodles(擔擔麵). The "Peanut Sesame Noodles/Clam Soup" eatery uses top peanut sesame sauce and is experienced in cooking noodles right. As for their clam soup, I suppose they buy really fresh clams from locals as Yilan is surrounded by water. It's always the hardest to make simple food delicious.
我想，這是除了正常小籠包以外，讓我曾經朝思慕想了好久的麻醬麵蛤蠣湯。會經過，只是路過，就在要往金車咖啡城堡的路上。
旅人在路上是難免要小解的。看到排隊人潮，我個人一向是毫無招架之力的。不排怎行咧?
它的麻醬香、蛤蜊(發音: ㄍㄜˊ ㄌ一ˊ)鮮甜、辣椒過癮。總之一句: 「不吃不行」。
